The premise of the book is promising: a boarding school, a dead girl’s hand, a photograph, cell phone calls, and ultimately a body found in the woods make for a pretty mysterious story. The reality is that most of the characters are stereotypes and Katie is too confused or sleep deprived or malnourished to figure anything out until the very end of the book. I didn’t like or make a connection with any of the characters and found myself being mostly bored with the plot.
Recommended as optional for gr. 7-12.
