My knowledge of Greek mythology springs only from watching “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and from reading the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. As a result, I quite enjoyed this adaptation of The Odyssey. I am not sure what a true scholar of Homer’s epic poem would think of it, but I found the graphic novel format to be visually delightful. There is a page of author notes at the back of the book that I probably should have read first, and although the author says that he doesn’t think a full glossary is necessary to understand The Odyssey, it would have been nice. There are a few scenes that might be questionable for younger students, but overall I highly recommend it to high school students who are studying this classic.
