This is a very short book with large font, and so it is easy to read in one sitting. I empathized with poor Melie, and I wanted to reach out to her and be her friend. It’s not easy growing up with a Jekyll and Hyde mother, but the fact that nobody believed her the few times she reached out for help left me incredulous. I suppose it’s much easier to turn your head when faced with mental illness rather than confront it and possibly face your own demons.
In any case, I highly recommend this little book with great depth for grades 9-12.
