Do most American teens know anything at all about the history of Argentina? No. Will that prevent them from enjoying this book? Absolutely not. The tidbits of Argentine history that are included in this novel only serve to whet readers' appetites. Some may find themselves researching the unfamiliar events and Spanish words in order to learn more about the country and its culture. The similarity of the terrorist attacks in Argentina to the terrorist attacks of 9-11 will bring readers to the same conclusion that Dani and Jessica draw: in spite of barriers caused by language, culture, and geographical boundaries, we are all more alike than we are different.
