The characters are all quite well developed and the mystery remains unobvious until the end of the novel. Rain is an unusual character, in that she has a cleft palate and is described as having difficulties with her speech, but she remains loyal and true to Wendy in spite of the fact that they had gone their separate ways long before the night of Wendy’s murder. I found myself cringing when she did things that put her in danger, but that’s what makes things nice and suspenseful, I guess. There are many references to partying and inappropriate behavior.
Recommended for grades 9-12.
