Stephanie Grimm (or 'Svetlana' as she wants to be called these days) believes that she is a vampire. Ever since she moved into her new house, Svetlana has only been able to eat red foods, she prefers to sleep under her bed, and she has developed a remarkable ability to probe peoples' minds and make them do things that she wants them to do. When Svetlana's science teacher, Ms. Larch, reveals herself to be a vampire, Svetlana learns that she is actually not a vampire, but a vampire slayer. Svetlana joins forces with her neighbors to try to destroy Ms. Larch before she wreaks any more havoc upon Sunny Hill Middle School.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a bit predictable at times, but it was definitely a departure from other vampire books that I've read. The cover is fun and appealing. Comment from Gabby, 10th grade, "If you are into the whole vampire fantasy craze, then you will love this book. It is recommended for students in grades 5-8, but it would also be appropriate for older students who don’t usually like to read."
Recommended for students in grades 5-8.
